Design of Spectacle Frame
Frame Design
-
Frame design contains the acronyms SC3DP & CCK
-
SC3DP represents Singapore Centre for 3D Printing
-
CCK are the initials of Dr Chua Chee Kai (our external mentor)
-
Complicated designs cannot be made due to limitations in the moulding process.
-
Addition of these acronyms were required by NTU

Challenges Faced
-
Did not manage to receive our titanium prototype from NTU
-
As our designs were not finalised and there was still a need for further modification before the final product is printed in titanium
-
Designs were also deemed too unrealistic and not fashionable so we had to tone down on the design
-
-
Had to resort to using the school printers to make the prototype
-
The 3D printer in school did not use SLM technology and can only print in plastic
-
Nose pad holder could not be printed
-
As accuracy and precision of the 3D printer was too low
-
Shows the need for higher quality printers utilising SLM technology to create complex parts
